Noah Vonleh Does It All For Haverhill
The Mass & NH High School Basketball Report was as Haverhill High School last night to see Noah Vonleh and Haverhill upset of our #6 ranked team in Massachusetts in Lawrence. The Hillies prevailed 54-51 in this back-and-forth contest. Vonleh was spectacular on the evening as he did a lot of everything to lead Haverhill to victory. In the end, Vonleh's numbers were through the roof with 23 points, 17 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 6 assists. Haverhill broke on top early gaining a 16-6 advantage after one quarter. Vonleh got his second foul three minutes into the second quarter and sat the remainder of the half.
By the time Vonleh returned to start the third quarter, the game was tied 21-21. Lawrence continued the momentum they ended the half with as they took an eight point third quarter lead. They would battle the rest of the night with Lawrence holding a slim lead. Down 51-45 inside of two minutes, Vonleh found Parker Rogers (8 points, 11 board) for a three that cut the Lawrence lead to 3. Vonleh would them block a shot on the defensive end, and lead the charge up court. Vonleh then proceeded to give his defender a through the legs dribble before a pull-up three of his own to knot it at 51-51 with 50 seconds left. On the very next possession, Vonleh attacked the lane and kicked to junior Edwin Valentin. Valentin's righty across-the-lane runner caromed home with 15 seconds left.
Lawrence had two chances to tie with the ball in talented guard Jaylen Alicea's hands. At the buzzer, a long Alicea fall-away missed, and Vonleh and Haverhill had beaten a talanted Lawrence team.
