NH Girls Class of 2012 Updated Fall Rankings

Jane White #1 in NH Girls Class of 2012
The following is the updated rankings for the class of 2012.

1. Jane White (5’6”, Souhegan High School) – White is a dynamic point guard who thrives in an uptempo game and plays the game with great intensity. White has a great feel for the game which she uses as a point guard. For a point guard she has a great knack for scoring as she can score from just about anywhere on the floor. She can knock down shots from beyond the arc and has the speed and athleticism to blow by defenders. White also competes and is an excellent defender.

2. Allie Mahan (5’8", Dover High School) – Mahan is a savvy point guard who possesses a great shooting touch from the outside. Mahan has very good speed which makes her very tough to guard in the open court. When she does get in the open court, she is an exceptional play maker and a great finisher. Mahan is also a tough defender and plays with much intensity.

3. Ashley Clough (5’11", Keene High School) – Clough is a combo forward who can play every position on the floor. She has very good size for a forward which allows her to post up defenders. Clough is also skilled enough to beat defenders off the dribble from the perimeter and is an exceptional 3 point shooter who has extended range. This makes her a very tough guard. As a result, she is capable of scoring in bunches. Clough needs to continue to progress as a wing player.

4. Kerry White (5’11”, Windham High School) - White is a hard nose forward who has made great strides in her game over the last year. Primarily known as a solid rebounder and defender and a back to the basket player, White has demonstrated over this last period that she can face up to the basket and make plays as she has a quick first step for a player of her size. White is very strong and is great at gaining position in the low post. White plays extremely hard and with a purpose. If she continues to get better she has potential to be the top player in the class.

5. Katie Prothro (5'9”, Bedford High School) - Prothro is a 5’9” athletic combo guard who seems to flourish in transition. Prothro has great speed which she uses to get up the floor often outrunning her opponents for easy layups. She also has both a solid handle and outside shot. Prothro has great length and as a results gets her hands on a lot of balls on the defensive end. We also like that the talented guard is not afraid to mix it up underneath.

NH Girls Class of 2011 Updated Fall Rankings

Danielle Walczak is number 1 in the Class of 2011.

The following is the updated rankings for the class of 2011.

1. Danielle Walczak (6’1”, Oyster River High School) - Walczak is the most dominate player in New Hampshire High School basketball. She has a great basketball body which she uses on the low post to over power her opponents. Walczak has very good foot work for a girl her size and has a variety of post moves that allows her to score in bunches. She also knows how to use her body gain position and thus is an excellent rebounder. She also has shown she can step out beyond 15ft and make a shot. If she continues to improve on her skill set Walczak has a chance to be a very effective player at the next level. Walczak has committed to a division 1 scholarship at the University of Maine.

2. Savanna Butterfield (5”10", Londonderry High School) - Butterfield is a much improved forward who can run the floor, catch, and finish. She is extremely athletic and when playing hard she has the ability to dominate games. Butterfield has the most raw talent and ability out of any player we have seen this year in New Hampshire. Very quick off her feet she is a match up problem for most forwards in New England. She can step outside and make a shot and also take it off the dribble to finish at the rim. Butterfield is very active on the boards and has a knack for drawing offensive fouls on her opponents. However, to be effective at the next level, Butterfield must improve on her skill set and her consistency of playing hard all the time .

3. Brooke Springfield (5’8", Conant High School) – Springfield is a strong point guard that uses her strength and athleticism to control basketball games. She has a very good skill set with a variety of moves that she uses off the dribble. Springfield is also very good in pick and roll situations. She is an ultimate competitor who seems to never take a play off. Springfield is a very good defender, and take pride in not letting her opponents score. Springfield is a winner and has a chance to be solid contributor at the college level. She must continue to work on her outside shot and her ball handling.

4. Maggie Crisman (6’0”, Bow High School) - Crisman is a 6’0” combo forward who is a jack of all trades. Very skilled for her size Crisman can play all 5 positions on the floor. Crisman is the most versatile forward in New Hampshire. Crisman can score down low, take it off the dribble, and also make the 3 point shot. She is a solid competitor who plays the game with a purpose. From the maturity of her game it is evident that she has spent many hours on the basketball court. Crisman has a strong basketball IQ that helps her compete against more athletic players. One of the most underrated kids in New Hampshire she has potential to be a very good player at the next level .

5. Deanna Purcell (5'9”, Alvirne High School) - Purcell is a combo guard who is one of the best shooters in the class of 2011 as she can knock down threes consistently. She is also a very good passer and finisher in transition. At times she brings the ball up for her team, however she is much more effective on the wing. She is one of the few players in her class that can score in bunches.

6. Katie Cullerot (5’9” Guard, John Stark High School) - Cullerot is an excellent shooter who has no problem knocking down shots beyond the arc. Cullerot is an absolute gym rat who plays the game hard and with a purpose. She has a very high basketball IQ due to her many years of playing . Cullerot is very crafty which allows her to compete against players that are more athletic the she. She is a very calm and confident player. She must continue to improve her skill set with an emphasis on ball handling .

7. Melissa Frase (5’7” Guard, Kennett High School) Frase is an energetic guard who thrives in a fast pace game. She is a gret competitor who competes on every play. In the half court game, Frase can knock down the three, but is most comfortable driving to the basket for a finish or a dump off to a teammate. Frase is a clutch player and not afraid to make the big play. She is also an athletic guard with a strong frame which she uses to her advantage. Frase could benefit from using more finesse in her game and a little less brute force.

8. Katherine Harris (5’9" Guard, Pinkerton Academy High School) – Harris a highly intelligent point guard. She is very consistent and makes few mistakes on the floor. Harris is a great passer who sees the floor very well. At times she can be too unselfish, as Harris has the ability to score, but would much rather get her teammates involved. Harris is also very athletic and a very good defender. If would be helpful if her outside shot would improve.

9. Catherine Cloutier (6’0”, Londonderry High School) - Cloutier is a good size forward who has a strong body and can compete on the boards. Cloutier is a blue collar player who is not afraid to get in there and mix it up with her opponents. She is a solid defender who rebounds at both ends of the floor. She is very good at running the floor and finishing in transition . Cloutier has shown she can step out to 15ft and knock down a shot on a consistent basis.

10. Allie Wagner (5'7", Kennett High School) – Wagner is a 5’7” combo guard who can play either point guard or shooting guard. She is very fast and an excellent shooter from beyond the arc. Wagner is also a very good passer and finisher in transition.

NH Class of 2013 Updated Fall Rankings

Dimitri Floras On Top Of Class of 2013

The Class of 2013 is a talented NH Class with several players that could wind up playing college basketball on a scholarship. Here is how we see them.

1. Dimitri Floras (6'0", Merrimack High School) - Floras had a great Freshman year for Merrimack High School and followed that with just as an impressive a Spring and Summer for the Rivals. Floras is an athletic guard who is tough and plays to win. Floras is known as a scorer and he has a great scoring mentality. He can make the three, has a sweet pull-up, and can get to the rim and finish. What has been most impressive about Floras over this recent Spring and Summer is how much better he has become as a play maker. It is quite apparent that Floras is more than on his way to becoming a legitimate college scholarship point guard. Floras task over the next year is to continue to secure his handle and improve his long range shooting.

2. Mike Auger (6'4", Hopkington High School) - Auger was virtually unknown until the Spring and Summer when he suited up for the Rivals. He is very athletic and has a great basketball body. Auger is a combination of guard and forward as he plays the game inside and out. He is as tough as player as we've seen in New Hampshire high school basketball as he is relentless on the glass. Auger has shown guard skills as well especially in regards to how he puts the ball to the floor. Auger need to continue to improve his skill set but surely will be a force to reckon with in the years to come.

3. Mabor Gabriel (6'6", Trinity High School) - Gabriel showed us flashes of how good he was during the high school season but has definitely made significant strides over the Spring and Summer. Gabriel can run the lanes, catch, and finish around the basket. He also has a real soft touch and can step away all the way to the three point line and make shots. Added to that, Gabriel can put the ball to the floor. Gabriel is a long wingman that has a great upside. His body has not matured yet and time will surely take care of that. Gabriel must continue to work on his skill set as he will likely make his living away from the basket.

4. Kaleb Joseph (5'11", Nashua South High School) - Joseph is a talented guard that has much potential. Joseph showed his talent this Spring and Summer as a member of the Expressions 15u Elite team. He has a quirky game, but a very effective one. He has a good handle, is unselfish with the basketball, and has a good basketball I.Q. He is able to create space off the dribble and can finish around the rim. Joseph body needs to develop and it will over time. He also needs to develop a better stroke from deep. Joseph has a chance to be very special.

5. Travis Descoteaux (5'11", Trinity High School) - Descoteaux is a versatile guard that understands how to attack from the perimeter. He has a well rounded game as he can make threes, can make the pull-up, and is exceptional at driving and kicking to others. Given he is undersized, Descoteaux skill set must get significantly better.

NH Class of 2012 Updated Fall Rankings

Javon Williams Still Number 1 in New Hampshire

The following is the updated rankings for the class of 2012.

1. Javon Williams (5'10", Nashua North High School) - Williams is the most athletic player in New Hampshire High School basketball. He has a great body, is extremely fast, and has a killer crossover and an NBA looking jump shot that has him elevated way above his opponent when he releases. When Williams is playing well, he is one of those players that turns heads in a gymnasium with his athleticism and moves. Williams is also long and fast and get down and really cover on the defensive end of the floor. We would like to see him work on is handle a bit and we would like to see him compete every time he takes the floor. Williams has already received interest from many division 1 schools including the University of New Hampshire.

2. Sylvere Aluko (6'9", Trinity High School) - Aluko is a much improved big guy who can run the floor, catch, and finish. He is also athletic, plays hard, and is active on the boards. His skill development has a long way to go. Nonethless, at his size, Aluko will surely have division 1 coaches following his progress over the next year.

3. Devin Gilligan (6'3", Souhegan High School) - Gilligan is a powerful basketball player that uses his body to get to the rim and finish. His skill set is a combination of guard and forward skills. Gilligan is known for his pretty spin move in the lane that has gotten him many baskets. Gilligan needs to improve and transform his game from a little less brute force to more finesse. Improving his shot and handle will help him with this and help him transform into a guard at the college level.

4. Ryan Gauthier (5'11', Nashua North High School) - Gauthier is an athletic guard that can score the basketball in bunches. Gauthier can make shots and can get to the rim and finish. Gauthier is also a competitor who plays the game hard and with a purpose. Gauthier's weakness is that he is impatient and sometimes can get out of control. A better understanding of game that comes with playing more games at a high level as well as improving his ball handling skills will help solve this problem.

5. Brad Holler (5'10", Bishop Guertin High School) - Holler is the best shooter in the class of 2012 as he can knock down threes from well beyond the NBA arc. Holler had an excellent summer where he demonstrated that he can do other things as well including putting the ball to the floor. Holler also has made huge improvements on the defensive end of the floor. Holler needs to continue to develop his game so he is a threat to put the ball to the floor and go by his opponent. This will make him a much bigger threat when he is squared to the basket at the three point line.
