This Site is Putting on Summer Hoops Camps!

4 Camps on Tap for the Summer

As the MA-NH High School Basketball Report continues to expand and grow in popularity, we have a number of summer camps and exposure events to look forward to in the coming months. Our first event, the "MA-NH High School Basketball Report All-Star Showcase" was a HUGE success, and we can't wait to get more players in the gym this summer and keep giving those players top-notch exposure.

D-III Schools Stock Up on Talent

More Commitments to Report

Yesterday we reported all of the goings on at Plymouth State. Today we look at some more college commitments that have been made recently.

First, three players are going from the NHIAA on to play athletics in college. Two of them will be playing basketball, and one will be playing baseball.

-Eric Watson from Merrimack High is headed to the Wentworth Institute of Technology to play basketball.

-Sean Martin (pictured above) led Conant High to four Class M state titles, and now takes his hoops game to Springfield College.

-Bishop Brady's Tyler Penney was on of NH's top centers but in college he will be playing baseball at the University of Southern Maine.

-From the MIAA, Dan Martin will be playing hoops at the Rochester Institute of Technology after playing his high school ball at East Long Meadow High.

There are also four New Hampshire natives who played this past season at prep schools who have made college commitments. George Tsougranis (Portsmouth, NH) is headed to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Eric Dean (Gilford, NH) takes his game to Trinity College and Alex Stoyle (Goffstown, NH) and Ben Bartoldus (Hillsboro, NH) will both be playing at Brandeis University.

Plymouth St. Grabbing Top NH Talent

Burt, Cressy Lead Impressive Recruiting Class

Plymouth State really recruited New Hampshire kids hard this year, with virtually their entire recruiting class coming from the Granite State.

The headliners for the class are Alex Burt and Kevin Cressy, who both ended the season as top 5 players in NH. Both players should contribute right away as freshmen.

Burt is a combo guard who is an outstanding shooter, can handle the basketball and is an extremely hard worker. The 6'0" Burt is the #2 rated prospect in his class. He is a natural scorer, who can also run the point, play solid defense and is not afraid to take the big shot.

Cressy (pictured above) is a 6''7" kid with a very versatile game. He can play inside but also step out and hit the outside shot as well as put the ball on the floor and drive. He is good at coming over from the weak side to block shots and is a very tough matchup based on his size and skill set.

Another player that will really help the Panthers out is Cormac Fitzpatrick. The 6'0" two-guard is a deadly long range shooter. With Burt and Fitzpatrick, Plymouth St. has locked up the state's top 2 shooters. Fitzpatrick has "in the gym range" which will really stretch defenses and allow for other players to slash to the rim.

Last but not least in this group of talented NH kids heading north to Plymouth is Rory Duffy. Duffy was a high school teammate of Burt's at Dover High, and like Burt he is also a very good shooter. The 6'2" Duffy is also a tough, hard nosed player and an excellent defender.

Trinity's Phil Hayden, who is also a top 20 player in this class, will be attending PSU but not playing basketball.

Just at a time when all of these commitments are becoming final came the news that the school's head coach, John Scheinman, resigned from his position. Scheinman was the men's basketball coach at Plymouth St. for 10, years, and now steps down to take a management position at the school.

Hoop Mountain Tourney Recap

Rivals and Expressions Star Freshmen on Display

There was plenty of talent this weekend at the Hoop Mountain Invitational in Foxborough, MA. The highlight of the event was the much anticipated Expressions versus Mass Rivals 15U game.

The Expressions featured rated players that included slasher Ramon Gibbons (Charlestown High School), Kaleb Joseph (Nashua South, NH) Dimitri Floras (Merrimack, NH), and the Mass Rivals featured Noah Vonleh (Haverhill, MA), Derek Collins (North Andover, MA), Mike Auger (Hopkinton, NH), Alec Brennan (Weston, MA) and Sam Dowden (Andover, MA).

In a game that was as a good a 15U contest as you could ask for, it was the Mass Rivals who captured a 69 - 59 victory over the Expressions club. 6'5" Noah Vonleh who proved himself to be better than all the rest. Vonleh played 5 different positons in this contest, but most importantly were his minutes at the point where he created all kinds of trouble for the Expressions team. Vonleh, who was doubled team most of the evening finished with 20 points and numerous assists. He dominated the glass as he had several blocks on the defensive end and several put-backs on the offensive end. Vonleh even showed his range as he knocked down a critical three in the second half to extend the Rivals lead to 7.

6'4" forward Mike Auger made his presence known as he dominated the game inside finishing with 14 points. And 6'1" sharpshooter Derek Collins knocked down 4 threes of his own and had a couple of big time takes to the basket.

Expressions Ramon Gibbons showed his athleticism and ability to get to the rim as he had several big time moves to the basket.
