Gomez and Boudreau A Pair of Aces for Andover
Andover's Natalie Gomez-Martinez (left) and Nicole Boudreau (right) are one of the best guard combinations any Massachusetts High School Basketball team has ever seen.
In Monday night's game against Billerica High School, Marist bound Natalie Gomez-Martinez registerd a double-double with 27 points and 10 assists in the game. Wow, that's something. Not to be outdone, junior and Boston College bound teammate Nicole Boudreau nailed nine 3-pointers on her way to 34 points. She also carded a double-double with 10 steals in Andover's 86-61 win.
Gomez-Martinez is a ultra quick point guard who thrives in the open court. Gomez loves to play the game at a high pace and has the ability to score in bunches. Gomez has a great handle which allows her to go anywhere on the court. What impresses us the most about Gomez is her middle game. She uses a variety of dribble moves to get into the lane for easy pull ups. Gomez will likely be an immediate impact player at Marist University as she can create space off the dribble with the best of them.
Boudreau is a combo guard is capable of putting up huge numbers in a hurry. She is a deadly shooter from the outside but she can also attack the hoop and finish at the rim. Boudreau is also an exceptional passer. She seems to thrive when the game is on the line and likes to have the ball in pressure situations. Boudreau, who is a top 100 prospect in the country, has a year to go before she takes the floor for Boston College. One thing we know is that she'll be ready.
For now, Andover High School is lucky to have been dealt a pair of Aces.

Mass Boys Class of 2012 Updated Winter Rankings
Jake Laymen Still #1 in Class of 2012
Jake Laymen's stock has continued to rise over the last several months as the athletic wing has continued to improve every day we see him. Laymen has shown us that he can step away from the basket and make the long range three, can put the ball to the floor, and can finish way above the rim especially in transition. The question that remains is whether Laymen will go directly to college or take a Post Graduate year at Prep School. Either way, Laymen will be wearing a division 1 college basketball uniform some day soon.

Noah Vonleh Cracks ESPN Top 25
Noah Vonleh Is ESPN's #23 Sophomore
It is quite remarkable that 15 year old Noah Vonleh has not repeated a grade, nor stayed back, but yet is rated the 23rd best Sophomore in the U.S.A. by ESPN.
Vonleh starred for the Mass Rivals last Spring, Summer, and Fall as he became recognized as one of the top prospects in the country as he took his skills cross-country on the AAU circuit. The hype has continued at Haverhill High School as Hillies Coach Mike Trovato has showcased the young star at all five positions on the basketball court. Most impressively, the 6'7" athletic guard has shown us he is comfortable and competent at the point guard position. While at Haverhill, Vonleh has had visits from the likes of Syracuse University, Pittsburgh and Boston College as well as scholarship offers from the later two. Check out ESPN's top 25 at the following link.

Derek Collins Wins Battle with Noah Vonleh
Derek Collins was unstoppable tonight
The Mass & NH High School Basketball Report visited Haverhill High School today to watch super sophomors Derek Collins and Noah Vonleh battle it out. The two talents are friends and AAU teammates for the Mass Rivals, and tonight they showed both North Andover and Haverhill fans why they are both so good. In front of a crowded Haverhill gymnasium, both Collins and Vonleh put on shows that would not disappoint. Collins would be the victor today as he quickly eliminated any chance Haverhill had to win with a first quarter offensive barrage that would seal the deal early. Simply put, Collins was the better player tonight, and when you are playing against the likes of Noah Vonleh, that is saying something. As a result of Collins play, North Andover would cruise to an 82-57 victory.
Collins, who we've called one of the best scorers in Mass high school basketball was fantastic tonight as he nailed 5 consecutive three pointers in the first quarter to put North Andover up 24 - 5 early in this one. Collins would hit a pull-up jumper a minute later to put his first quarter total to 17 points as North Andover led 29-11 after one quarter. Collins, who was on fire, hit 6 of 7 attempts from the floor in the first quarter. Collins would continue his excellent play into the second quarter as he would knock down another three and hit a scholarship like tear-drop floater over the outstretched Vonleh. Collins would finish the first half with 22 points on 6 for 6 shooting from behind the arc and would go into the half 8 of 9 from the floor. Collins would add seven third quarter points as he would have limited minutes the rest of the way home as North Andover would continue to extend the lead.
We have always been a big fan of Collins, and today he showed his entire package. Collins who has a quick and beautiful high release made the seven threes look easy. Collins was also effective putting the ball on the floor, as he had a shot fake, penetration, and a sweet looking pull-up. The 6'2" Collins also used his athletic body to rebound the basketball in traffic. He showed us again that he loves the limelight, as the better the competition, the better he plays. Lastly, Collins showed us why he is one of the best sophomores in Massachusetts and why this 6'2" athletic guard is a division 1 prospect.
Vonleh, although his team never had a chance to win, played hard tonight and had another monster game. Vonleh had 34 points and 24 rebounds on the evening. Vonleh, again showed us why he is the most skilled player in Massachusetts. Vonleh showed us that his handle is a weapon as he gets wherever he wants on the floor. Tonight Vonleh knocked down two threes, had a nice pull-up, a thunderous dunk, and worked his way to the foul line on several occasions. Maybe best of all was the the crossover to a pull-back three that left his defender staggering back as the ball swished through the net. Watching this young man play is simply a treat. He does so many things that are off the charts. He is one of the best players to ever put on a Massachusetts high school uniform. Vonleh has a slew of major division 1 schools following him, and we expect the list will continue to grow fast.

Carson Desrosiers Represents at Wake Forest
Carson Desrosiers at Wake Forest University
The Mass & NH High School Baskrtball Report visited Wake Forest University yesterday to see last years' Massachusetts High School player of the year Carson Desrosiers and the Deacon Demons take on Duke University. Desrosier who lives in New Hampshire and attended Central Catholic High School, led the Raiders to two Division 1 State Championships. He is one of the few high school players in MA-NH that have been able to make a successful transition from high school to big time division 1 basketball. Desrosiers is unique in that he never attended Prep School nor did he ever stay back in elementary or middle school to give himself extra time to mature. At 18 years of age, Desrosiers headed off to Wake Forest to test the grounds of ACC basketball.
Desrosiers has clearly earned his stripes in the ACC as part representing Wake Forest University. Last week he was named ACC Freshman Stat player of the week posting 8 blocks in the two games Wake Forest played. Even more exciting, Desrosiers went into this weekends game against Duke leading the entire ACC in block shots.
Desrosiers started for Wake Forest against Duke yesterday and had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in 31 minutes of play. Wake Forest was scrappy against the Blue Devils before fading in the end as the final was 83 - 59. Desrosiers showed he will be a force to reckon with over the next three years. When asked about his Freshman year, Desrosiers reminds us "I'm learning a lot and just trying to get better every day". If you were fortunate enough to watch him on ESPN yesterday, the big guy is doing just that. For MA-NH High School basketball, it's great news. He's representing all of us, and doing it well at the highest level of college basketball.
