Westford was a 63-62 winner over its Dual County League rival and defending tournament champ A-B after sophomore forward Justin Mount converted a running layup off the glass with 7.2 seconds left. The Colonials then called a timeout to set up a play. Sam Longwell got a good look at the basket but misfired and a couple putback tries from Acton Boxborough missed as well. Westford moved to 5-0 and Acton Boxborough is now 4-1.
Senior captain Mark Cornelius was the star of stars in the game with 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. He was named the tournament MVP. Fellow captain Matt Ellis had 13 points and was also named a tourney all-star. Ryan Jann chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The Colonials got 22 points from senior forward Wes Schroll. Longwell added 14 and junior center Kevin LaFrancis had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
