Marco Coppola Headed to WPI

Marco Coppola can score the basketball

Boston Herald Dream Teamer Marco Coppola is heading to WPI in the fall. The 6-foot guard averaged more than 26 points a game in leading Watertown to a Division 3 North and EMass title. The MVP of the Middlesex League, the two-time All-Scholastic finished his career with more than 1,000 points.

The MA & NH High School Basketball Report visited Watertown High School late in the high school season to watch Watertown and Coppola take on Burlington High School.  Coppola dominated that game with 29 points as he had nine points in the first 3:30 of the game as he hit two long range threes and added an old fashion one as Watertown pulled away early.  Coppola is a talented guard that knows how to win and can shoot the ball from long-long range. He has extended range and can knock down the long ball from beyond the NBA Stripe.

Coppola and Acton-Boxborough guard Sam Longwell give coach Chris Bartley and WPI two top notch guards.

New England Storm Seniors Make Committments

Sam Longwell will be attending WPI

The New England Storm announced three more commitments from a senior class that saw Central Catholic's Jimmy Zenevitch accept a scholarship to the North East 10s Assumption College.

The following are the latest three commitments:

Sam Longwell (6'2", Acton Boxborough) - Committed to WPI.
We have come to love Sam Longwell over the last year and we believe he is a steal for WPI. There is no question that Longwell could clearly be playing in the North East 10 with AAU teammate Zenevitch.  Nonetheless, Longwell finds himself at a great academic school where we believe he will have an immediate impact.  Longwell is a high I.Q. basketball player that helps every team he has been on record victories.  Longwell is a seasoned basketball player that has an excellent understanding of the game and is a good team player. Longwell is an improved shooter who can not be left alone behind the arc.  We expect him to have an excellent career at WPI with an excellent possibility to be an eventual All-League selection.

Mike Gorman (5'10". Methuen High School) - Committed to Anna Maria College
Anna Maria is fortunate to pick up Gorman who is one of the few point guards in New England that really has a coaches-like understanding of the game when he is on the basketball court.  He is an excellent floor general who knows who do distribute the basketball to and when to do it.  As a result, he makes those around him better. Although Gorman is a pass first point guard, we really love the way Gorman strokes the basketball from behind the arc. A true team player, Gorman sacrifices his own offense for what he believes is the better of the team.

Raudy Minaye (6'3", Methuen High School) - Committed to Northern Essex
There is no doubt that Minaye has a scorers mindset. When he's on, we have seen Minaye put a lot of points on the board in a hurry as he often gets hot from behind the arc.
