Jimmy Zenevitch's 32 and 1,000 Not Enough For Central

Jimmy Zenevitch netted his 1,000 point

Assumption bound Jimmy Zenevitch scored 32 points including his 1,000 career point for Central Catholic last night but the Raiders came out on the short end of a 72-70 decision to Saint John's Prep.

Saint John's Prep, our #1 ranked team in Mass, got 23 points from Notre Dame bound Pat Connaughton, including the game winner with 25 seconds to play. Zenevitch scored his 1,000 point on an and-one that cut the Saint John's lead to 53-52 with a minute left in the third quarter. Zenevitch also grabbed 13 rebounds on the evening.

For St. John's Prep, junior Mike Carbone came up big as he scored 19 points including 4 threes. For Central Catholic, junior Luis Puello added a dozen points and freshman Tyler Nelson came up big again with 10 points.

St. John’s moved to 19-1 with the win and will have the #1 or #2 seed in the North sectional when the pairings are announced Friday. Central, our #2 ranked team in Mass, moved to 19-2 on the season and will likely meet Saint John's again somewhere in the tournament. There is a chance they could be on the same side of the bracket. All that witnessed last nights game are hoping it's later rather than sooner.

Noah Vonleh Adds Kansas University to the List

Haverhill's Noah Vonleh Drives to the Hoop

It's has been a great sophomore campaign for the 15 year old Noah Vonleh. It started with Syracuse University head coach Jim Boeheim making his way to Haverhill High School gymnasium to watch the young talent and it ended today with a call Vonleh made to Kansas University. In that discussion, Vonleh spoke to Kansas University head coach Bill Self. Just last week, Kansas visited Haverhill High to catch a glimpse of the ESPN #23 rated sophomore. As usual Vonleh impressed and can now add Kansas University to his list of scholarship offers.

During the season Boston College head coach Steve Donahue made his way to the Haverhill High School gymnasium and followed with a scholarship offer. After that, it was the University of Pittsburgh who took the trip North and followed with a scholarship offer of their own.

We have said before that it is just the beginning for Vonleh, but thus far, it's been one great start.
