David Madol Takes Scholarship to Southern New Hampshire

David Madol did it all for Manchester Memorial

Last week David Madol accepted a division II scholarship to Southern New Hampshire University where he will compete in the Northeast 10 which is one of the top division II conferences in the country.  There is no doubt that this is a steal for Southern New Hampshire who landed a division 1 caliber player in Madol.

There is little doubt that Manchester Memorial's David Madol was the best prospect in New Hampshire High School Basketball this past winter. Madol's game evolved through his high school career to make him a dangerous 6'5" wingman who can knock down the three, put the ball to the floor, and finish in traffic. Madol can also play the game above the rim and is extremely quick off his feet and a great rebounder in traffic.  Added to that, Madol has showed us that he can finish with authority as he is an acrobatic dunker of the basketball.

Lexi Sells verbals to Providence College

Lexi Sells heading to Providence

It is very exciting when we see a high school basketball player get offered a division 1 scholarship these days, especially those who choose to stay in high school and not take the Prep School route.  That is exactly what happened to Lexi Sells this week  Sells received a scholarship offer and verbally committed to be a Friar following her senior year at Bishop Feehan High School.

Sells is the No. 54 prospect in the ESPNU HoopGurlz 100 for 2012.   Sells helped lead Bishop Feehan (Attleboro, Mass.) to an Eastern Athletic Conference co-championship and an appearance in the Division 2 South semifinals this past season.

Sells informed the Providence Coaching staff yesterday of her intentions on attending the University. It was just last Fall when Sells really came on the national scene with great play at the Nike Blue Chip Invitational.  Sells drew national recognition from ESPN.com.  Sells continued her stellar play during the high school season averaging 20 ppg , 7 rbs, and 4 assists earning her Herald All-Scholastic honors.   The Providence College Coaching Staff had a chance to evaluate Sells during her High School season and again during the recent April division one viewing period. Sells who plays for the Rivals Basketball Club had a chance to show off her skills at the prestigious Deep South Classic which is held at Duke University and University of North Carolina.  Sells had a great tournament and her stock rose significantly.  Sells AAU Coach Scott Hazelton defines sells as "the ultimate all-around player. She can score, rebound, pass, and defend.  She is a fierce competitor who loves to win, and she is a pleasure to coach" stated Hazelton.

Congratulations to Lexi Sells, Bishop Feehan High School, and the Rivals Basketball Club.

Marco Coppola Headed to WPI

Marco Coppola can score the basketball

Boston Herald Dream Teamer Marco Coppola is heading to WPI in the fall. The 6-foot guard averaged more than 26 points a game in leading Watertown to a Division 3 North and EMass title. The MVP of the Middlesex League, the two-time All-Scholastic finished his career with more than 1,000 points.

The MA & NH High School Basketball Report visited Watertown High School late in the high school season to watch Watertown and Coppola take on Burlington High School.  Coppola dominated that game with 29 points as he had nine points in the first 3:30 of the game as he hit two long range threes and added an old fashion one as Watertown pulled away early.  Coppola is a talented guard that knows how to win and can shoot the ball from long-long range. He has extended range and can knock down the long ball from beyond the NBA Stripe.

Coppola and Acton-Boxborough guard Sam Longwell give coach Chris Bartley and WPI two top notch guards.

New England Storm Seniors Make Committments

Sam Longwell will be attending WPI

The New England Storm announced three more commitments from a senior class that saw Central Catholic's Jimmy Zenevitch accept a scholarship to the North East 10s Assumption College.

The following are the latest three commitments:

Sam Longwell (6'2", Acton Boxborough) - Committed to WPI.
We have come to love Sam Longwell over the last year and we believe he is a steal for WPI. There is no question that Longwell could clearly be playing in the North East 10 with AAU teammate Zenevitch.  Nonetheless, Longwell finds himself at a great academic school where we believe he will have an immediate impact.  Longwell is a high I.Q. basketball player that helps every team he has been on record victories.  Longwell is a seasoned basketball player that has an excellent understanding of the game and is a good team player. Longwell is an improved shooter who can not be left alone behind the arc.  We expect him to have an excellent career at WPI with an excellent possibility to be an eventual All-League selection.

Mike Gorman (5'10". Methuen High School) - Committed to Anna Maria College
Anna Maria is fortunate to pick up Gorman who is one of the few point guards in New England that really has a coaches-like understanding of the game when he is on the basketball court.  He is an excellent floor general who knows who do distribute the basketball to and when to do it.  As a result, he makes those around him better. Although Gorman is a pass first point guard, we really love the way Gorman strokes the basketball from behind the arc. A true team player, Gorman sacrifices his own offense for what he believes is the better of the team.

Raudy Minaye (6'3", Methuen High School) - Committed to Northern Essex
There is no doubt that Minaye has a scorers mindset. When he's on, we have seen Minaye put a lot of points on the board in a hurry as he often gets hot from behind the arc.

Cambridge Sophomore Jacquil Taylor Impresses

Jacquil Taylor is growing both in height and as a basketball prospect

This past weekend we got a chance to take a look at Cambridge's 6'9" Center  Jacquil Taylor as he played for the Prodigy Basketball Club 16u team in the Mass Rivals Easter One Day Shootout at Woburn High School.    Taylor is long, has good athleticism, a decent skill package, and excellent motor, and a great disposition on the basketball court.  Taylor played well at this event and did many good things as he showed off a variety of low post moves that included traditional drop-steps that resulted in a couple of pretty dunks, along with some up-and-unders, as well as a couple of turn-around bankers.   Taylor was most impressive when he was filling lanes as he is exceptionally quick getting up and down the court.  He also rebounded and led transition a couple of times looking rather comfortable with the ball in his hands.   With his length and speed, we can sure see Taylor filling the lanes and finishing easy baskets in the college game.  Taylor also played aggressive and hard and was very much a leader on the basketball court.  Overall, we were much impressed with the lanky sophomore.

The question that continues to remain for Taylor, who is without doubt a division 1 prospect, is what position he will be play at the division 1 college level.  We personally would like to see him move away from the basket some and transition into a four-man who can knock down shots from the perimeter and put the ball to the floor some in the half court game.   After watching Taylor play and examining his skill set, it is apparent that this could become a reality for Taylor.  His ability to turn himself into a step-away-four would raise his stock significantly.

Top Performers Mass & NH Basketball Report Girls Showcase

Madeline Blais Keeps Getting Better

The Mass & NH High School Basketball Report in partnership with NESTARZ held their first annual Spring Girls Showcase a couple of weeks ago and over 120 girls including much of the best talent in New England were present.  We will take a look at many of those who participated over the next few days starting off with those whose really shined.

Madeline Blais (5'11" junior, New Hampton School) - Blais is a 6'1" long guard/forward that can get it done on both ends of the floor. Blais plays the game with such grace and makes things look easy.  It is evident that the game comes easy to her and as a result she made it look easy at the showcase having her way most of the morning.  On the offensive end she is exceptional at putting the ball to the floor and finding her way to the rim. She also is a deadly shooter who can really knock them down from deep. We liked her most at the event when she rebounded and led transition. She is an impossible match-up for all her opponents. Blais also made her presence known on the defensive end as she aggressively challenged every opponent’s shot.

Lexi Sells (5'10" junior, Bishop Feehan, MA) - Sells is a combo-guard that has a lot of talent, and one of those talents being that she plays very hard. Sells is excellent in transition and makes her teammates look better. She has a great touch and has the ability to score from inside-out. The bottom line is that Sells does not have many weaknesses to her game. She is a versatile player that can do everything.

Audrey Knowlton (5'9", junior, Gloucester, MA) -  Knowlton is an off guard who is able to create off dribble and finish. Knowlton was one of the best shooting guards at the showcase and was making the three ball in bunches. Knowlton is also strong at the defensive end of the floor and an exceptional weak-side rebounder.

Olivia Healy (5'9", sophomore, Reading, MA) - Healy is a physical player who is a tough match-up for just about everybody who dears to cover her.  At the showecase,  that was the case as Healy had her way. Healy uses the inside-out game to create advantages for herself. She knocks down threes against bigs and punishes smaller guards around the basket. Healy can play multiple positions on the floor and is fun to watch leading transition.

Melissa Frase (5'9", senior, Kennett H.S., NH) - Just returning from an injury but you would never know it by the way she was playing!  Frase was strong attacking hoop off the dribble and showed us a sweet long range jump shot. Frase also demonstrated a high basketball IQ as she sees court well, and always seems to make the correct basketball play.

Lauren Hebert (5'10', junior, North Reading, MA) - Hebert is one of those few girls at the showcase that can score in bunches. She has a very high basketball IQ. She also is very impressive in transition as she can really push the ball up the floor efficiently with 4-5 dribbles. Hebert created mismatches all morning long using her ability to play inside-out. She used her size to get shots off of smaller guard and is able to beat bigger opponents to the basket off the dribble. She also demonstrated a great outside jump shot and was effective on the glass from the wing.

Natatlie Leone (5'9", sophomore, Ashland, MA)-  Leone is a slasher who can get to hoop from all spots on the floor. Leone demonstrated a high basketball IQ and was fun to watch as she effectively weaved in and out of traffic creating easy hoops for her teammates.

Casey McLaughlin  (6'0", sophomore, Central Catholic, MA) - The skilled 6 ft forward showed she is crafty around the rim as she used her height and strong body to get to the hoop on several occasions during the event. McLaughlin also showed us that she has the ability to rebound, push the ball down the floor, leading her team on the break.  McLaughin is a threat on offense as she can both take the ball to the hole, post up, or hit the mid range jumper. McLaughlin has a huge upside.

Ali Glennon (5'10", freshman, Bedford High School, NH) - Glennon may be a Freshman, but she doesn't play like one. Glennon played poised and under control and showed us that she knows how to finish around the basket. She has an excellent skill set and knows how to create space to get into the paint for a pull-up or get to the rim. The best part about Glennon is that she has a huge upside especially given she has a big wing-span.

Daisy Jordan (6'0", junior, Tilton School, NH) - Jordan is a physical girl who dominated in the post during the event.  Jordan also showed she can get to the rim-always looking to attack.  Jordan has very soft hands and finishes consistently around the rim.  She is also physical and tough at the defensive end and is hard to score on.

Samantha Brenner (6'3", junior, New Hampton, NH) - Brenner is a post player with a multitude of guard talents. Brenner showed us she is an all around threat on the court because she can post up, step outside and hit the three, as well as go by her defender.  She scored in all these ways during the event.  Added to that, Brenner altered or blocked many shots during the event.

Morgan O'Brien (5'10", sophomore, Reading H.S, MA) - Two things we know about Morgan O'Brien is that she plays hard and she can really shoot the basketball from extended range. During this event she showed us she can still do those two things but she has also began to develop a midrange game. She had a couple of nice looking pull-up in the lane after she set her defender up to believe she was driving to the basket.  O'Brien showed us an improved mid-range game and an improved ability to get to the rim off the dribble.  O'Brien is also basketball saavy and knows when to make the right play or pass.

Brittany Lomanno -  (5'6", sophomore, Billerica, MA) - Lomanno is as an exceptional point guard that has a high basketball IQ.   Lomanno is a pass first point guard that always makes her teammates look good. Her skills and IQ were on display at the event as Lomanno showed us that she can run a team efficiently and effectively.  Lomanno is one of the few point guards you will find that understands how to use the pick and roll,  knows how to make the right pass, and truly understands the position she plays.

Caitlin Dell’Orfano (5'8", freshman, Central Catholic, MA) - The freshman was fun to watch as she plays the game at a maturity level well beyond her years.  Dell'orfano is a an excellent shooter with a quick release who loves to spot up and shoot in transition. She can also score the basketball in a number of other ways. During the event she showed us a variety of offensive skills including a nice floater as she dropped a tear drop over a taller opponent. Dell'orfano is athletic and aggressive and competes at both ends of the court.

Lizzy Ball-  (5'7", junior, New Hampton, NH) - Ball's greatest attribute is the high intensity she plays the game with and the fact that she leaves all her energy on the court.  Ball demonstrated that she is a very good ball handler that can use both hands.  Time after time she pushed the ball up court and finds her teammates running the lane. She also is an agressive lock down defender and gave her opponents nightmares throughout the event.

Amber Dillon (5'4", senior, Brookline, MA) -  Dillon put her strong and athletic body on display at the event as she was able to pretty much do as she pleased.  Given her strength and athleticism, she is most special in transition as she made several standout plays off the break during the event. Her strength, athleticism, and leadership skills were used not only to control the game at the point guard position, but she also kept the defense honest by knocking down pull up shots in a half court set.

Ginelle Cola (5'7",  junior, Lowell, MA) - Cola is a very athletic guard who was very effective slashing to the basket and finishing.  She played extremely hard and was active on both offense and defense glasses. Cola also plays tireless man-to-man defense on her opponents.

Megan Otto   (5'11', junior, Scituate, MA) - Otto is a long and athletic guard who can play both inside and out thus making her a tough match-up.    She showed us she can create off the dribble or knock down the pull up from fifteen feet away.  Otto is also an excellent competitor and a great on the ball defender.

Brown displayed a strong ball handling ability and impressive speed, speed that was notably displayed when he was hustling up and down the court. Brown scored a lot for his team, by both knocking down several jumpers from mid range and aggressively attacking the rim off the dribble. His final dribble was always authoritative, even if he was preparing to lean into someone much taller than he, and he finished well around the basket.

David Labossiere, PG/ SG, Stoneham - Labossiere effectively got into the paint all night and showcased a strong passing ability once he got there. Explosive, Labossiere could accelerate from zero to full speed almost instantaneously, and as a result was very effective in transition.  Labossiere shot very consistently when his feet were firmly set.

With the ball close to the basket, he used his height well to finish over opponents, whether off the drive or in the post.

Ben Judson, SG - Judson, only an eight grader, is fun to watch because he seems to take great joy in making the right basketball play. This lefty loved to make the extra pass to his teammates, and shot a good percentage from outside as well.  Judson also has a good understanding of the game and is a natural scorer.

Shane Farley, G, Burlington - Farley is a good size athletic guard who has an extremely quick first step to the basket.  Farley also showed that he understands how to use his body to hit and create space.

Andrew Lechner, SG, Pinkerton H.S., NH -  Lechner is an athletic guard that can score the basketball.  He played both a strong off (left) hand and a sense of creativity when taking it to the basket. He hit a few outside shots, including a three, and rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor, especially for a guard.

Sean Dorcaster, SG/SF, Medford, -  Dorcaster is capable of playing multiple positions, and his biggest strength is his ability to finish seamlessly with either his left or right hand over either shoulder. Dorcaster can also step away and knock down the three.  Dorcaster scored a lot at the event, but all of his points seemed to come within the team mechanic, and none were forced.

Kenny Reed, PG, Reading High School - Reed has excellent athletic ability and was able to find his way to the rim with ease.  He was a very creative passer at the event, and his highlights included two beautiful passes; one no-look from half court to a big underneath, and another pass between the legs on the fastbreak to the trailer.

Mark Mellanson, SG, Burlington - Mellanson can flat out knock down shots. He hit several threes on the night and showed off a super quick release while doing so.

Ledo Head List of Talents at MA-NH Showcase

By Nick Restifo

The Mass & NH High School Basketball Report had their first annual Boy's Showcase a couple of weeks ago at Reading Memorial High School. The Showcase featured some of the best high school basketball players in the region, and it allowed them the chance to demonstrate their skills.

Here were the standouts of the evening.

Ricky Ledo, SG/SF - Ledo, who is the #12 ranked ESPN junior, had the best night of anyone at the event. He put on an offensive clinic at the showcase and scored from all areas of the floor. Ledo is athletic and explosive and he truly shined in the way he made use of all of his natural gifts. Ledo drilled several threes over the course of the event, some of them from well beyond the arc, and he shoots the ball with both proper mechanics and spectacular lift. Ledo is a very high percentage shooter off the jab, even from three point range, and is not afraid to pull if given the space. Ledo also showcased a very strong court awareness. He is very aware of his own body movements, a quality sometimes not always possessed for developing high schoolers; and he almost made the appropriate play, whether that be a eurostep attack to the weak side of the hoop or a kick out to his open teammate. Ledo’s crossover was extremely quick, but was unique in that it is particularly reactive, he would often cross back to his other hand if he was not pleased with the separation achieved and his crossover was just as deadly coming back as it was going there. When he got into the paint, Ledo was an extremely adept at finishing regardless of contact, and he possessed several counters to defenders shifting over to help. His spin move is particularly devastating, and a ridiculously quick one drew several oohs and ahhs from the crowd.

Noah Vonleh, SF/PF - Vonleh, who is the #12 ranked ESPN sophomore, was the best athlete at the event. He has a powerful and ahtletic body. Vonleh was a presence on the glass at both ends of the floor and spent much of the evening rebounding well above the rim. Vonleh had several big blocks, and is beginning to become a bit of a defensive stopper down low. At 6'7", Vonleh demonstrated that his handle is a weapon as he always started the transition after rebounding well above the rim. Vonleh also found his way to the perimeter where he is a nightmare for opponents. His handle is so good he unguardable by a guard never mind a forward. A much improved shooter, the ball is coming off Vonleh's hands with grace.

Zach Auguste, F - Auguste is all of 6'9" and extremely long. Add to that, Auguste runs like a deer with wonderful grace to his gallup. Auguste is oozing potential has he demonstrated an ever improving set of skills and his ability to knock down the three. Auguste already has several major division 1 offers on with his huge wingspan and soft touch. He even hit a three pointer Friday night, showing flashes of a developing outside game.

Jared Terrell, SG/SF - Terrell, who was placed on Ledo’s team, fed off the attention Ledo received all night. Terrell is an explosive and bullish scorer who is not afraid of contact and scores in bunches. Terrell’s mid range game is quite strong, and he consistently hit jump shots off the dribble from the elbow and free throw line area. Terrell has a quick crossover move, but the move he most exploited was a go-to hesitation dribble which he effectively and consistently used to get defenders on their heels and then explode by them. Rebounding wise, Terrell always seemed to be in the right place at the right time at the event, as he grabbed several rebounds, despite being one of his team’s primary ball handlers. He was just as hungry to get the ball as he was to score.

Akosa Maduegbunam, SG/SF - Maduegbunam had a tendency to start off his games quickly, and always seemed to score within the first two or three possessions. Strong and incredibly quick with the potential to be an excellent finisher, Maduegbunam used this event to show off his devastating long-range game. Maduegbunam rained in threes from all around the arc, and he is an excellent shooter from range. His shooting form is beautiful, and he really gets his legs into his shot. When Maduegbunam left his feet, he had an impressive ability to maintain his position in the air, showcasing an excellent sense of body control and balance. His notable shooting performance was not even deterred by the shots he missed: His missed jump shots would always knock around on the rim several times before barely popping out.

Demitry Coronell, SF - Coronell can shoot from mid-range well enough, but his real strength is putting the ball on the floor. Coronell is an effective penetrator with impressive hangtime and amazing body control after contact. Coronell scored a lot during the event and possesses an uncanny ability to finish drives he shouldn’t be able to.

Cedric Kuakumensah, PF - Kuakumensah is a powerful and long 6'6" forward who was a rebounding machine corralling missed shots on both the offensive and defensive glass. Kuakumensah has also earned the reputation of challening every shot and that was exactly the case at the showcase. With the ball in his hand, Kuakmensah demonstratd that he an improved finisher around the basket with the ability to step away and make shots 15 feet away from the basket.

Dimitri Floras
, PG/SG -Floras showed off his ankle breaking and world-devastating handle, most notably during the drills session at Friday’s showcase. Floras demonstrated his mid-range savvy as well, knocking down several 15 footers off the dribble; a skill set that perfectly completements his ability to kill defenders off the dribble.

Cornelius Tyson, PG - Tyson is incredibly fast and has a very refined handle. He has an almost funny flair for the fancy on the pass or the dribble, and is very fun to watch play. Tyson a true point guard looks to distribute the basketball first and is exceptional in transition.

Jaylon Blakely, PG Blakely has an ankle breaking crossover with super speed to match. He showcased good decision making on Friday night and almost always made the right pass.

Junior Boys at the All-Star Game

Akosa Maduegbunam Impressed At All-Star Game

Charlestown's Akosa Maduegbunam had an excellent showing at second annual MA & NH All-Star game. Maduegbunam showed us that he is an athletic guard that can knock down shots and can find his way to the rim. Maduegbunam is strong and incredibly quick with the potential to be an excellent finisher. What was most noticeable was the fact that he is clearly a much better shooter than a year ago. Maduegbunam is clearly a division 1 college prospect.

Javon Williams (Nashusa, NH) - Williams showed us again why we get excited when we see him play. Williams did it all again. He led the transition at an incredible speed, made some incredible passes, and showed us a smooth three point shot that he can make from extended range given the powerful body he has. If Williams can put the whole package together consistently he will find himself playing division 1 college basketball.

Adam Bramanti (Masconomet Regional, MA) - Bramanti is a talent that knows how to get it done in a variety of ways. The bottom line on this young man is that he has game. He can shoot the ball from beyond the arc but he has a very effective midrange game as well. Bramanti is a scholarship prospect and will surely have coaches in the gym this Spring and Summer.

Steve Haladyna (St. John's Prep, MA) - The day after scoring 28 points to lead St. John's Prep to the division 1 State Championship, Haladyna put on another good performance. Haladyna has a nose for the basketball that is second to none in Mass & NH High School basketball. Haladyna love to score points, and thus he gets it done in a variety of ways. Again he showed us that he is very active on the floor and is a winner. Haladyna will also have coaches watching his progress over the Spring and Summer.

Zach Karalis (North Andover, MA) - Karalis is a talented and long guard who has an exceptional stroke from behind the arc. Given that threat, Karalis is able to find his way into the paint to make plays for himself and his teammates. As a result, he continues to show us that he is a tough match-up for most guards.

Kenny Reed (Reading, MA) - Reed has a powerful body and great athleticsm. Reed showed us that he can use that athleticsm to create space and make shots off the dribble.

Kyle Lentini (North Reading, MA) - Lentini has a great body and is a physical basketball player that both attacks and protects the basket with a sense of purpose. Lentini can also score successfully around the basket and has the ability to step away from the basket.

Brad Holler (Bishop Guertin, NH) - Holler made several long range threes from well behind the arc. An improved Holler played with much passion showing us that he can find his way into the lane making plays for both himself and his teammates.

Sophomore Boy's at the All-Star Game

Noah Vonleh Leads Sophomore All Stars

Noah Vonleh (6'7", F, Haverhill) - Vonleh continues to improve by leaps and bounds. It was quite inevitable during the All-Star game that Vonleh has put some time into shooting the basketball as the ball keeps coming off his hand with great rotation. It's only a matter of time before Vonleh is a knock down shooter. Vonleh did several things during this game that only the Elite of the Elite are able to do.

Jared Terrell (6'2", G, Weymouth) - Terrell has a great basketball body and great athleticism. Terrell was most exciting to watch in transition as he had a ESPN like dunk on the break. Terrell showed us again that he can create space off the dribble and has a nice looking pull-up.

Dimitri Floras (6'1', G, Merrimack, NH) - Floras is a combo guard that is exceptional in the open court. Of all the high school kids we have witnessed, Floras' pull-up jumper is the best. During the All Star game, he showed us that he can make these pull-ups in transition from beyond the three point line.

Aaron Calixte (5'10", PG, Stoughton) - Calixte is a strong and powerful guard that has long arms and knows how to use his body to hit and separate. Calixte can also knock down the three and knows how to find his way into the heart of the defense creating plays for both himself and his teammates.

Derek Collins (6'2", G, North Andover) - Collins has long proven that he is one of the most dangerous players in New England when he has the ball in his hands behind the arc. He showed us early in this All Star game that he has extended range. Collins, who sometimes forget he is a good finisher around the basket, found his way to the rim successfully a few times in the second half.

Corneilus Tyson (6'1", G, Springfield Central) - Tyson has good size for a point guard and gets himself to good positions on the floor so he can make the correct basketball play. He is real problem when he gets himself into the lane. Although not the prettiest looking three, Tyson made four of them in this game.

Mabor Gabriel (6'7", F, Trinity, NH) - Gabriel showed us again that he has nice touch from the perimeter and can make hots around the basket as well.

Collin Richie (6'0", PG., Whitinsville Christian) - Richie has earned a reputation as a great floor general who understands how to play the game of basketball. Richie showed us that although he chooses to make others better, he can surely score the basketball as well.

Jonathan Perez (5'11", G, Lowell) - Perez has a strong and compact body that he used to slice to the basket on several occasions. Perez is also a much improved shooter who can knock down the three.

Dominic Paradis (6'4", F, Spaulding) - Paradis is a much improved player who does some of everything. His greatest strength is the fact that he has a nose for the ball and seems to always be in the right place. For Paradis, that ability allowed him to rack up points in this game.

Andrew Ruffen (6'2", G, Salem) - Ruffen has a high basketball I.Q. and clearly knows how to play basketball. Add that to the fact that Ruffen has a sweet looking release from deep, and he is definitely a prospect worth following.

Tank Robertson (5'9", PG, Pittsfield) - Robertson has a compact, physical, and athletic body. He understands how to play the game and thus is an excellent distributor of the basketball. Robertson also has extended range and a midrange game to go with it.

Isiah Nelson (6'4", F, North Andover) - Nelson has a big and strong body but yet showed us that he has some perimeter skills. Nelson can shoot the ball all the way out to the three point line and he has a decent pull-up to go with it.

Sean McNally (6'4", SF, Hanover) - McNally, who has excellent size, good athleticism, and a nice touch to go with it.

Fahmi Farah (5'10", G, Amherst) - Farah is an athletic point guard that is efficient with the basketball.

Freshman Boy's at the All-Star Game

Nick Cambio was impressive at the All-Star game

Nick Cambio (6'5", F, Central Catholic) Cambio has a great basketball body as he is a strong forward who has a productive inside-out game. His development is just in its infancy, but we believe he has a chance to be special. In this one, he dominated the glass. Offensively he showed the ability to score in a variety of ways. He also demonstrated an ever improving game on the wing. He knocked down 4 three pointers and was able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Cambio also has a good basketball instinct and was able to distribute the basketball.

Aaron Falzon (6'6", Newton North) – Falzon is a smooth big guy who is has a pretty stroke from behind the arc and some nifty moves from perimeter. He understands the game and how to ball fake to create space. In this game, Falzon showed us a variety of his offensive arsenal including the three, the mid-range jumper, as well as a nice looking half-hook. Falzon also continues to impress us as he can lead the fast break after he rebounds and he is an exceptional passer of the ball in transition.

Pat Benzan (5'10, G, Roxbury Latin) - The talented guard showed us a great handle as he used it to cut and slash through the lane all night to create opportunities for his teammates and himself. Benzan was able to control the game as he has total command of the basketball when he puts it to the floor.Benzan also showed that he is able to step away from the basket and knock down the three.

Jalen Adams (5'10, G, Melrose) – A super smooth guard who played with a lot of maturity. Adams has great control of the basketball and gets wherever he wants with his dribble. Although a rather slow and not so pretty looking release, Adams is able to make the three ball. With work on the jumper, Adams could be a special backcourt player.

Brendan Miller (6'2, G, North Andover H.S.) - We love the fact that Miller has great athleticism and great bounce to his game. Miller used that athleticism in the game to help him get to the basket. The beauty is tat he can finish around the rim in a variety of different ways. Once the shot becomes more consistent, Miller is going to have his way at the offensive end of the floor.

Drew Belcher (6'4, Reading) - Belcher has a athletic body and plays the game aggressively. He scored the ball well in transition getting to the glass on several occasions. Having been a power forward in earlier years, Belcher is showing an improved handle and jumper as he was both successful at making the three and putting the ball to the floor.

Shane Farley (6'1, G, Burlington) – Farley is an athletic guard that showed he can make plays and score the basketball. We like the fact that Farley has a scoring mentality and looks to create opportunities for himself to score. He had a variety of good scoring moves in this one, especially off the dribble.

Colin McManus (6'8, F, Bedford, NH) - The forward is a work in progress but we like the fact that he runs the floor well and has big frame that will fill in. McManus also has a good understanding of the game and thus the distributes the ball well. Although he is in the early stages of development, McManus has a chance to be a talented forward/center.

Richard Santos (5'9", PG, Whitinsville Christian) – Santos has an excellent basketball I.Q. and thus is an exceptional floor general. Santos has control of the basketball, get where he wants, and knows how to distribute the basketball.

Trevon Betts (5'7", PG, Weymouth) - Lightening quick point guard whose exceptional handle allows him to attack the rim and look to score. He has soft touch around the basket and sees the floor very well. Although not a knock down shooter, Betts can make both the pull-up and long range three.

Eric Gendron (6'2", G, Merrimack, NH) - Gendron has a great basketball body and is exceptional in attacking the rim in transition. He is a versatile player who can score in a number of ways from both the perimeter and in the lane. And that is exactly what Gendron did in this game.

Christian Morneweck (6'4", F, Burlington) –Morneweck is athletic small forward that can fill lanes and finish around the rim. He also has a good midrange game and can knock down the 12 footer. He also uses his athleticism and determination to be an effective rebounder.

Liam Bruno (6'0", G, Newton North) - Bruno is a competitive basketball player who has a great instinct for the ball and knows how to get himself in the right positions to score the basketball. He did just that in this game, as he scored in a variety of different ways.

Matt Costello (6'1, G, Bishop Fenwick) - Costello is a sharp shooter that can knock down threes in bunches. The shooting guard has shown improvement in his ball handling and dribbling which has allowed him to improve his midrange game.

Andrew Lechner (6'1", G, Pinkerton Academy) - Lechner is an athletic guard that just looks like he belongs on a basketball court. He is athletic, can run and jump, and has a college looking pull-up. He is an exceptional three point shooter as well. If Lechner learns how to use his body effectively and learns to encourage contact, he could be exceptional prospect.

Christian LaRoche (5'9", G, St. Bernard's) - LaRoche is a talented guard with a high basketball I.Q. He makes those around him better. LaRoche showed us that he can get his shot off, and when he does, he can make them as well.

Jordan Lates (5'4", G, Hollis-Brookline, NH) - Lates is an intelligent point guard that understands how to run a basketball team. Although a great floor general, Lates knows how to score the basketball when needed. He can knock down the jump shot and has range from beyond the arc.
