Pat Connaughton Leads St. John's Prep Again

Pat Connaughton put together yet another afternoon of big numbers and a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists as St. John's Prep Danvers captured the Class A crown of the BABC Holiday Tournament with an 81-77 victory over New Bedford. Sophomore forward Isiah Robinson had his second strong game in a row as he added 13 points and nine rebounds. Our #1 ranked team moved to 5-0 on the season with big wins now over East Boston, New Mission, and New Bedford. New Bedford, who moved to 4-1 with the loss got a valiant effort from senior Jules Tavares who scored 32 points in the loss.

At Assumption College in Worcester, Matt Harrington scored 16 points on his way to the Joseph M. O'Brien Memorial Outstanding Player award at Laska Yuletide Invitational as St. John's Shrewsbuy easily handled Shrewsbury 59-33. Other Pioneers played well included Matt Palecki with 15 points, Richard Rodgers with 13 points, and Ryan Kelley with 9. St. John's earned its fifth straight win to improve to 5-3 after losing there first three being away in the Gonzaga D.C. Classic.
