St. John's Prep Pat Connaughton is Heading to Notre Dame
Pat Connaughton made a verbal commitment to the University of Notre Dame Saturday morning after visiting the South Bend campus officially last weekend. Connaughton will head to Notre Dame on a basketball scholarship but is also likely to pitch for the Fighting Irish baseball team.
Last month we got a chance to speak to Pat Connaughton about his magnificent month of July that landed Connaughton eight high major division 1 scholarships from Florida, Marquette, Notre Dame, Tennessee, UCLA, North Western, Wake Forest, and Penn State. At that time, Connaughton said, "I don't know exactly what happened. Notre Dame began following my games earlier in the month in Springfield. At the Super Showcase, a bunch of schools started following me and my recruitment took off. Notre Dame and Tennessee were the first two to offer".
Connaughton’s commitment to Notre Dame is fitting because of all the high-major programs who ended up pursuing the talented swingman, the Irish were the first on the scene, having begun to evaluate and recruit him early in the month of July in both Springfield and Connecticut.
