Super 16 Showcase Filled With College Coaches and Players

Pat Connaughton Scored 31 In Win Over New Heights

Over 100 college coaches visited the Super 16 Showcase including West Virginia's Bob Huggins, UMass’ Derek Kellogg, Fordham’s Tom Pecora, Harvard’s Tommy Amaker, Boston University’s Pat Chambers, and New Hampshire’s Bill Herrion to name a few. There were also many other division I, division II, and division III coaches in attendance.

Many of Massachusetts and New Hamphires local talent stood out including Middlesex Magic's senior to be Pat Connaughton (St. John's Prep) who played exceptional in the Magic's win over a talented New Heights team from New York. Connaughton scored inside and out leading his team from nine back late in the game. Connaughton has had an excellent Spring and Summer and his stock is on the rise.

The Rivals Basketball Club featured many talented high school players, but the most impressive was 6'5" senior to be David Madol (Trinity High School, NH). Madol has gotten better and better and demonstrated time and time again his ability to get to the rim, knock down the three, as well as provide some above the rim excitement. The 6'5" senior to be Joe Mussachia (Manchester Essex, MA) also showed his skill set by putting the ball to the floor and knocking down some perimeter jumpers.

The Granite State Jayhawks had an excellent five game stretch that left them undefeated in both the Hall of Fame Invitational and the Super 16 Showcase. The Jayhawks were led by senior to be Steve Spirou (Pelham, NH). Spirou has been most impressive for the Jayhawks. At 6'4", Spirou use both his desire, physical strength, and skill set to be an impact player in every game he plays. Yesterday against the New York Panthers was no different as Spriou put together a 16 point performance which included superb three point shooting and physical play around the basket. The Jayhawks senior to be Sean McClung (Bishop Guertin, NH) also shined in the win. McClung is another 6'4" talent that has an excellent basketball IQ and who can knock down shots.

The New England Playaz also showcased Springfield Central's 6'1" sophomore to be Cornelius Tyson. Tyson showed that he has a bright future ahead of him as he already has the ability to both score and distribute the basketball.

The Boston Warriors had their own star of the day in 6'7" senior to be Ousmane Drame (New Mission High School). Drame is an efficient player in the post and who has an outside shot that is coming.
