Girls Going Prep

Blais, Ball and Cohen Moving On

On the boys side players leaving their high school for the prep school ranks is an everyday occurrence. You don't see it as much on the girls side, but for certain players it is a viable option.

Three local girls players will be transferring to prep schools in the fall. Maddie Blais and Lizzy Ball are both headed to the New Hampton School, and Alex Cohen will now be attending the Tilton School.

Blais was previously the #1 ranked player in the class of 2011 for NH. She leaves Exeter High School and will be repeating her junior year at New Hampton. At 6'0", Blais is a tough match-up due to the fact that she has the skill set of a two-guard and the size of a forward. She is very good at shooting the basketball, either off the dribble or catch. Blais has Division-I potential.

Ball was one of the top players in the MIAA's class of 2011. She will also be reclassifying, and entering the class of 2012. Ball leaves Manchester Essex High School, from a small division in MA which doesn't garner as much competition or expposure. She is a 5'8" point guard and a very good defender. She plays the game very hard, gets right in your face defensively, and dives on the floor for loose balls.

Cohen was previously the #1 ranked player in the Class of 2012 for NH. She was poised for a big junior season at Bishop Guertin, but instead transfers to Tilton where she will repeat her sophomore season. The 5'9" Cohen has a strong frame and a very good all around game. She can shoot, handle the ball and defend as well as any player in her class.
