Charlestown Hands St. John's Prep First Loss

Akosa Maduegbunam had 22 Points in Townies Victory

It's very rear for a high school team to go undefeated especially when you take on the type of schedule that Saint John's Prep has this year. Saturday afternoon, at Charlestown High School, the combination of Akosa Maduegbunam, Rony Fernandez, and Tyrik Jackson handed St. John's their first loss of the season as the threesome led the Townies to a 72-56 victory. The game was much closer as the came was a two point contest with just under 4 minutes left to play. Then Charlestown exploded f0r a 15 - 1 run that would close the door on this won. Charlestown's took advantage of the fact that they have point guard Rony Fernandes leading the team. The athletic and quick guard showed us again that he is a tough match-up as he can both knock down the long ball and get to the rim off the dribble. Fernandes finished with 23 points. Our #2 rated junior Akosa Maduegbunam played extremely well netting 22 points and 6'5" Junior Tyrik Jackson was a game changer with 16 rebounds, 7 blocks, and a changed a bunch more shots. points of his own. Notre Dame bound Pat Connaughton had another good evening scoring 29 points in the loss.

The win moved Charlestown to 12-1 and St. John's Prep to 11-1.
