Newton South senior guards Sophie Bikofsky (left) and Kendall Burton (right), best friends since age 11, both needed 11 points to reach the 1,000 point mark heading into a match-up against Concord-Carlisle last week. At 7:19 of the second quarter, the sharp-shooting Bikofsky reached her milestone with a three-pointer from the top of the key. Twenty-seven seconds later, the Villanova-bound Burton got hers on a shot she's known for, a running jumper off an inbounds pass.Bikofsky finished the night with 16 points and six rebounds, putting her at 1,006 points for her career while Burton finished with 13 and five, and is now at 1,002 points. A great story and two great careers. Congrats.
