Carson Desrosiers at Wake Forest University
The Mass & NH High School Baskrtball Report visited Wake Forest University yesterday to see last years' Massachusetts High School player of the year Carson Desrosiers and the Deacon Demons take on Duke University. Desrosier who lives in New Hampshire and attended Central Catholic High School, led the Raiders to two Division 1 State Championships. He is one of the few high school players in MA-NH that have been able to make a successful transition from high school to big time division 1 basketball. Desrosiers is unique in that he never attended Prep School nor did he ever stay back in elementary or middle school to give himself extra time to mature. At 18 years of age, Desrosiers headed off to Wake Forest to test the grounds of ACC basketball.
Desrosiers has clearly earned his stripes in the ACC as part representing Wake Forest University. Last week he was named ACC Freshman Stat player of the week posting 8 blocks in the two games Wake Forest played. Even more exciting, Desrosiers went into this weekends game against Duke leading the entire ACC in block shots.
Desrosiers started for Wake Forest against Duke yesterday and had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in 31 minutes of play. Wake Forest was scrappy against the Blue Devils before fading in the end as the final was 83 - 59. Desrosiers showed he will be a force to reckon with over the next three years. When asked about his Freshman year, Desrosiers reminds us "I'm learning a lot and just trying to get better every day". If you were fortunate enough to watch him on ESPN yesterday, the big guy is doing just that. For MA-NH High School basketball, it's great news. He's representing all of us, and doing it well at the highest level of college basketball.
