Ferrentino Huge in East Longmeadow Win

Senior Leads Team to Girls Semis

State tournaments are where you really see who the players are. Krista Ferrentino showed that she is a legit player last night in the Western Mass. Division I semi-finals. Ferrentino, a 6'1" senior, scored 25 points in the first half and 33 points total to lead East Longmeadow High to a 52-46 win over Holyoke.

Ferrentino is considered by many to be the best girls player in Western Mass. right now. She dominated all game long last night, especially in the first half. East Longmeadow started the game on an 18-0 run, and Ferrentino had 11 of those points. The fast start was the difference in the game. She was simply on a mission in this game, and got her points in a variety of ways.

Fellow senior Laurie Bonano also had a big game for East Longmeadow. She didn't have the huge numbers that Ferrentino did, but Bonano did all of the little things well for the Spartans. She made some clutch plays at the end of the game to help withstand a comeback bid by Holyoke, including a huge steal followed by a pair of free throws to ice the game.
