BABC Veteran's Day Classic Brings Out the Best

Noah Vonleh Shines At BABC Classic

Most of the best players in New England found there way to the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston this past weekend to participate in the BABC Veteran's Day Classic. The event included New England's top three rated members of the class of 2013 in BABC's Nerlens Noels (Tilton), Connecticut Selects Kuran Iverson (Northwest Catholic H.S., CT), and Rivals Noah Vonleh (Haverhill H.S.). Also at the event were class of 2011 Middlesex Magic's Pat Connaughton (St. John's Prep), Class of 2012 BABC's Jake Laymen (King Phillip), BABC's George Niang (Tilton), Class of 2013 BABC's Goodluck Okonoboh (Tilton), BABC's Rene Castro (Beaver Country Day), Rivals Matt Cimino (Chevrus H.S., ME), RI Hawks Jake Fay (Brimmer & May), and Rivals Dimitri Floras (Merrimack, NH) as well as class of 2014 Rivals Alec Brennan (Milton Academy).

As far as the Massachusetts and New Hampshire High School players go, Haverhill High School sophomore Noah Vonleh again showed us why he may be the best prospect in all of New England. The 6'7" just 15 year old sophomore, who is still growing, played the game above the rim all weekend long attacking and finishing at the rim. Vonleh had some great offensive putbacks and some big time blocks against the likes of Niang and Noels.

Notre Dame bound Pat Connaughton from Saint John's Prep has been playing a lot of basketball this Fall. Connaughton again demonstrated his athletic ability and his ability to finish hard and above the rim.

Jake Laymen from King Phillips is better every time we see him. Laymen played the point on the BABC 1-2-2 press this weekend and showed his athleticism and length to get his hands on ball after ball. Laymen also showed his ability to fly through the air and finish above the rim as he has some thunderous finishes. Added to that, Laymen stepped away from the basket and knocked down threes on a consistent basis.

Dimitri Floras from Merrmack H.S., NH played extremely well this weekend as he demonstrated his ability to lead the point. Floras has really developed one of the best pullups on the high school circuit as he knocked down shot after shot this weekend.
